We're a team of passionate students designing, building, and racing solar-powered vehicles to compete in the Solar Car Challenge.
The Polytechnic School Solar Car Team is a student-led initiative dedicated to designing and building innovative solar-powered vehicles. Our mission is to promote sustainable transportation while providing hands-on STEM education.
Founded in 2020, our team brings together students with diverse skills and interests – from engineering and design to business and communications. We work collaboratively to overcome challenges, innovate solutions, and push the boundaries of what's possible with solar technology.
Through our participation in the Solar Car Challenge, we gain real-world experience in:
Meet "Perihelion" – our cutting-edge solar-powered vehicle designed and built by students to compete in the Solar Car Challenge.
High-efficiency solar cells providing up to 1.2 kW of power, arranged for optimal sun exposure throughout the day.
Advanced lithium-ion battery pack with 5 kWh capacity, providing extended range even during cloudy conditions.
Top speed of 65 mph with a cruising speed of 45 mph, and a range of 250+ miles on a fully charged battery.
Ultra-lightweight carbon fiber monocoque chassis weighing just 100 pounds, with a total vehicle weight of 500 pounds.
Celebrating our milestones and accomplishments in solar car innovation and racing.
Recognized for our groundbreaking battery management system that maximizes energy efficiency during race conditions.
Placed 3rd in our division during the cross-country race, covering 800 miles on solar power alone.
Named "Best Rookie Team" in our first year of competition, setting a new standard for first-year entrants.
We're grateful for the generous support of these organizations who make our solar car project possible.
Whether you're interested in joining the team, becoming a sponsor, or learning more about our project, we'd love to hear from you.
